Yesterday, got out around 4PM by the Selfridge DNR Launch. Lots of people fishing all around the launch, in the channel and up to 50 yds from shore. They were most likley longnose gar, Lepisosteus osseus. Ive been fishing metro for years, and the only species of gar ive seen back there are the longnose. The spotted have a shorter snout, and slight differences in coloration.
